College Closet

For the ICE Scholars Program, my team were given the challenge of thinking up an idea and coming up with ways to bring that idea to life. We decided to create the ‘College Closet’ or a service that would store students items that may not be able to fit in a dorm or a house. Our company would also be able to drop off or pickup a student’s items within a requested time frame. Working on this project taught us the necessary steps to take if we actually came up with our own idea and wanted to bring it to life.

Below is our business model canvas which is a chart that details most aspects of the idea.

Year in Review

With my first semester coming to an end, it’s time to reflect. The first two months of college were very difficult. I was struggling to stay on top of my classes and find my place at the university. Trying to learn the concepts of calculus 2, Russian, and the Java programming language was very difficult at the beginning. However, just about a month ago, I started to really find myself and understand what it means to be a Buckeye. I’ve matured a lot since I’ve been living on my own with three random roommates who I can now call my friends. I’ve learned how to sort important tasks from unimportant tasks. I’ve learned how to learn and study more efficiently. The most important thing I’ve learned this semester is how to be happy and vulnerable. I accept and enjoy the person I am. My goals for the future are to work hard and try to make each day the best I can.

My Columbus Flag Proposal

In Design 3505 class, we learned the importance of design. One topic we explored was the design of flags from around the world. Some flags are crafted extremely well while some are unattractive to the eye. We were shown the Columbus flag and I thought that I could create a better one. This was my version of the Columbus flag that I created for fun.

G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness: I’ve traveled outside of America six times and this has helped me expand my perspective on the world. I’ve been to Europe five times and South America once. Seeing different people and experiencing different cultures has really opened my eyes. I hope to continue traveling and possibly work in a different country one day.

Original Inquiry: As a undergraduate student so far, I’ve focused on computer science and design my first semester. If you haven’t seen any of my artifacts yet, one thing you should know about me is that art and design are my passions. I believe the way that someone perceives something is very important. As I continue through my undergrad, I want to continue focusing on design and see where it takes me. I also want to team up with other students who have different talents (e.g. coders, designers, entrepreneurs, etc) so we can collaborate and create unique products. Also, I want to focus on the front-end coding (which means using HTML and CSS to design websites).

Academic Enrichment: I felt the best way for me to be well rounded was to take many different types of courses. I am going for a Computer and Information Science major, a design minor, and a business minor. I am also studying Russian.
