G.O.A.L.S.

Unfortunately, it was impossible for me to go with the rest of the group. My schedule conflicted a too much, and I did not want to be the one to hold the group back from getting a grade. So once I got out of my physics lab, I asked Jamie to walk with me and tell me about Kafe Kerouac and what the group thought about it. While this action had nowhere near the effect that being with the group, it does help me to know that my group tried their hardest to accommodate to me and my schedule. Kafe Kerouac was a quaint place just north of Lane Ave on High St. It seemed like one of the hot spots for upperclassmen to get there work done in groups of two or three. Next time, the group will probably not try to procrastinate as much, and really try to figure a time to do it all together. I would recommend this place to someone who likes to study in a small setting. Most people like quiet settings so the cafe isn’t very different in that aspect, but it is much quieter.

On Sunday, me, Andrew, and Zach traveled a little less than a half mile north up High Street to a Mexican Restaurant named Cazuelas. We decided we wanted to watch football together but knew that Buffalo Wild Wings was a little too pricey for college students, so we tried something new with Cazuelas and knew that we could get the assignment done as well when going there. The food was pretty good, and the service was not bad either. It was a good get away from the normal campus food and easy way for the three of us to sit down with each other when it doesn’t have to do with school. I’d recommend Cazuela’s to anyone who wants to try a new restaurant or is interested in Mexican food. It is a classic Mexican restaurant and is family owned.

Artifacts

This here is a simple football, with 8 grips on its laces right down the center of it. My life doesn’t revolve around it like it used to, but that does not mean it has not made me the man that I am today. I have learned so much from the game of football, and after playing it for 12 years, it can take the main responsibility for molding me besides my parents.  As much as I loved it and gave my whole heart to it before, the game has done as much as it can do for me, and now it’s time for me to take the lessons learned from football to make a positive impact in the world.

There may be a recurring theme here with these artifacts. This fall was nearly the first fall that I haven’t played football since 2004 when I was four years old and probably couldn’t read. Luckily, I found a way to satisfy myself in club football. For my whole life, I’ve always strived to be a division one football player, and though it didn’t happen as I thought it would, playing club made me realize how talented I truly was at the game. Without sounding big headed, I dominated this fall’s club football season, and lead OSU club football to its first division championship since its inception in 2012. I lead the country in completion percentage, touchdown-to-interception ratio, and rushing touchdowns, and right now I am up for first-team All-American awards. Club was more than just football; I met some fantastic people and friends that I will have for a very long time and some connections with the varsity team that I may have never made if I didn’t join.

About Me

I am a first-year aerospace engineering major in the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars. I hail from Chicago, Illinois, where I grew up in a stable home with both parents and a younger sister. My family is my motivation, as I wake up every day and remind myself that all the hard work and stress that the day is about to put me through is to make them proud. I was a very special boy growing up back home (in my humble opinion of course). I made a lot of my friends from sports, as I was a three-sport athlete ever since I was in 1st grade. My friends let the mentality that sports were the end all- be all in their lives at the age of 17, but I decided to keep my options open, which is why I’m here. I could be at a small school in the midwest playing pretty big time division 2 NCAA football and have free tuition, but I chose to come to The Ohio State, become an engineer and change the world. I never forget what I’m fighting for and the sacrifices that I’ve made to be here, and the challenges I complete on a daily basis are what my whole life has been preparing me for.

1. Competition- I can’t stand losing. No matter what it is, I will do whatever it takes to win fairly. . . usually.

2. Achiever- I set goals for myself all the time, and every single step is a milestone to me. I take every small victory I can get.

3. Self-Assurance- I feel confident that only I can make the best decisions for myself. I know when things get tough or school gets very hard and overwhelming, I can get through it no matter what.

4. Significance- Other’s opinions to me don’t matter, but I do want to be someone that others can look up to or look to me for positive thoughts.

5. Adaptability- I can’t control everything. Many people’s character is defined by their ability to adjust when things don’t go as planned. I feel as if I thrive in situations like those.
