Cocaine is one of the most powerful and dangerous drugs in the world. It is a stimulant that gives the user a huge burst of energy. It is used and abused by millions of people throughout the entire world. We chose to do the commodity chain of cocaine because we are very interested in the path cocaine takes from its first point of extraction to its last point of use by a person. Cocaine is an illegal drug so we are also interested how it makes its way around the world illegally.
We have identified six (6) commodity chain activities of cocaine including: extraction, manufacturing and production, transport, wholesale, local dealers, and consumers. We have investigated each activity and identified one (1) social, environmental, or other impact of each activity.
