April 22, 1970 was the very first climate civic action to sweep the population on a wide scale. Roughly 20 million Americans took to the streets across the country to protest. Their belief that our behavior and ignorance regarding our environmental impact was damaging not only our day-to-day existence but the future of our existence on Earth, was not only novel in approach but had lasting implications for future generations of climate activists.

In celebration of this monumental event, the Department of Geography will be posting events, blogs and other exciting content here. Our schedule is evolving so keep and eye on this space for new and exciting insights.

Happy Earth Day!
