Global Awareness
During my time at OSU, I plan on taking a number of classes that examine the histories and cultures of other parts of the world, including mythology classes which examine the origins of other cultures and art classes which examine the expression of others’ ideologies. I also plan on joining the Alexander Hamilton Society, a student organization concerned with current events and public affairs across the globe.
Original Inquiry
Since The Ohio State University prides itself in its status as a large research university, I am excited to find opportunities to engage in undergraduate research, particularly in neuroscience. This will be great preparation as I eventually hope to pursue a career in neuroprosthetics research.
Academic Enrichment
I hope that my neuroscience major and other undergraduate coursework will prepare me for medical school and a career in neurology/ neurological research. While my GE coursework may not directly relate to my career, I intend to pursue classes that will challenge me in other areas and allow me to pursue interests that are not directly related to my career. In particular, I would like to take classes related to the visual arts and painting. This will provide not only knowledge and appreciation for art history, but also help me to refine my technique and master another discipline that will make my education more well rounded.
Leadership Development
I plan to become involved in leadership roles at the OSU Chabad and to continue my leadership role in AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee). My involvement in AIPAC plays to my strengths as a consensus-builder, as I aim to bring a large group of my peers together to inform our members of congress about important legislation related to Israel and the security of the Middle East and encourage their support of the American Israel relationship.
Service Engagement
I plan to continue my engagement in education at my local community in Cleveland during the summers. In the past I have worked as a teaching assistant, a teacher and a tutor and have volunteered for local organizations. I also aim to expand my involvement in the Jewish community of OSU, namely at the Chabad and the Hillel. I have also been looking into student organizations that relate to service and I may become involved with the Accessible Prosthetics Initiative, especially since this closely relates to my intentions of making the advancement of neuroprosthetics my life’s work.
