When I first imagined what Ohio State Welcome Week would entail, I imagined the insanely epic party scene from Leonardo DiCaprio’s “The Great Gatsby.” What I actually experienced was almost exactly that. Buck-I-Frenzy was like walking through a sea of people and free stuff – and it was just as awesome as it sounds. Freshman convocation was surprisingly bearable and listening to President Drake talk made me realize how down-to-earth he is, which is very rare for a man in his position. I met so many new people and made so many friends and I know that I will keep them all four years I attend school here. My classes, on the other hand, are so much different than what I expected. I assumed a majority of them would be dry lectures by archaic professors. I was so wrong. Studio is exciting and extremely interesting, requiring much more creativity and “outside-the-box” thinking than I am used to. My lecture classes are small enough that I receive individualized help if I need it. Every one of my professors has made sure to make themselves available to their students through office hours. At first, it was a little weird getting adjusted to life at college. Everyone here, however, has helped me acclimate to my surroundings and new lifestyle. I have only been here for two weeks and Ohio State truly already feels like home.
