I am a lover of all things creative. As a musician, artist, writer and poet, I am drawn toward the things that fill me with emotion–fill me with a sense of life. I’m inherently curious, wanting more than to just scrape the surface of a topic. I love diving deep, asking the hard questions, pondering things when I can. This is the driving force behind my choice in major as well. I plan on majoring in Microbiology while in college, for the very fact that it is the science of exploration and understanding, in a realm that is so small, it can’t be seen by the human eye. Bacteria, microorganisms, all the things that live and move without us seeing them–they bring my mind to a boil, a multitude of questions just bubbling away in my head. It’s exciting to face the unknown.
Though the details haven’t been hashed out yet, I would love to be a researcher in the field, perhaps with my own working lab someday. The idea of actively measuring and calculating sounds much more enticing to me than a typical desk job. I had the opportunity during my high school years to m
eet with a radiation oncologist who had a lab on OSU in one of the biological sciences buildings, and it was this interaction that drew me in toward the more science related aspects of education. It was a wonderful experience altogether.
Coming in to the university, I graduated with honors, the Music Booster’s scholarship and US Marines musicianship award–I was the field commander of the Olentangy Liberty Marching Band, 1st chair saxophone in jazz band and concert band, caption head, assistant field commander, piano accompanist for Varsity Chorale, Varsity Chorale member, three time soloist and music composer. I have volunteered at COSI as a guest services volunteer, worked for three summers at Collins, Roche, Utley and Garner Law, and am currently working in the CBO Office in the Pharmacy School at OSU. I’m an evangelical Christian, and officially can’t wait for this school year!
