I was just speaking to my daughter about you, as she is searching for her student teaching placement in moderate/intensive special education. I had a very challenging placement, where you observed, listened, and advocated for me. I do recall that no other student was placed with that teacher again, however you helped me grow into a strong and knowledgeable educator. Subsequently,, I am still teaching today and owe it to you and the fantastic professors who helped shape and grow the special education field and community to what it is today. Thank You!
Hi Dr. Gardner. I worked with you on a three year pilot study with my reading curriculum, Carpenter Literacy, in 2010-2013. I am currently doing private tutoring in my home with 50+ readers since then, some being 5 1/2. I’ve experienced difficulty getting public schools interested in this very successful program. Im assuming it’s because of the testing mandates.
I was very excited when Science of Reading came out because Carpenter Literacy was built on those principles since I’m not a fan of leveled reading. But recently I had a reading teacher from a local district tell me that my program was NOT Science of Reading and that Ohio State was also NOT Science of Reading,
I would like to talk to you about this concern from this reading teacher since that is the direction of the state and I’ve only received extremely good feedback of administrators and success with building strong readers.
