Soil Testing Kits are available for purchase from the OSU Extension Stark County office for $15 (Cash or Check). Kits include a pre-paid general soil analysis; instructions for collecting a sample; submission form and sample bag and mailer. Contact our office at 234-348-6001 to reserve a time to pick-up your kit. March and April are a great time to conduct soil testing for your garden. Results generally take 7-10 business days and additional support is available at no charge to assist gardeners with interpreting their results from our OSU Extension Stark County Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Educator.
COMMUNITY SEED BANK-FREE SEEDS!
The Community Seed Bank provides area residents with free vegetable, flower and herb seeds through a partnership between the Stark County Master Gardener Volunteer Program and the Stark County District Library-Main Branch. Stark County Master Gardener Volunteers provide over 17, 000 seed packets annually for distribution by the library to area gardeners for growing fresh vegetables, flowers and herbs. Seeds are available during their designated planting time of Early Spring, Mid-Spring, Late Spring and Early Summer. Seeds can be obtained in-person at the library.
Please help us continue this project by completing a short survey on the impact of the Community Seed Bank! Anyone who has used the community seed bank over the last 11 years, including first time users this year are welcome and invited to complete the survey and share their experiences. To take the survey, please either click on the following link or scan the QR code with your smartphone. If you have any photos to share of your seeds in your garden or landscape, please feel free to upload them to the survey link, or email them directly to neikirk.2@osu.edu.
