I have recently gotten involved with a program called W.O.W. for community service. The goal of this program is to teach underprivileged children about STEM concepts. We go to inner city schools in Columbus to teach mainly math and science concepts. The program comes up with fun and interactive ways to efficiently teach new concepts to the children. I love getting to be involved with the children, and I feel that I learn just as much from them as they learn from me. They get so excited every time we come to visit them and I feel very blessed that I am able to help them. One little girl even told me that she hopes that she can be like me and go to college when she grows up. I admire being able to have an impact on children’s lives, even if it is in the smallest way possible. Math and science are such important core concepts that can help these children be successful no matter what path they choose to take in life. I plan on continuing to this program throughout the semester because I enjoy knowing that maybe I can be a small part in the getting these kids determined to do great things in life.
Undergraduate Business Women’s Association
This year, I joined the Undergraduate Business Women’s Association. This is a club where women in the school of business come together to talk about how to succeed here at Ohio State and in future internships and jobs. We get to hear speakers from top corporations all around the area. We also focus on helping women get leadership positions in the business world. This club is important to me because it helped me get involved here at Ohio State and within the school of business. It is also important to me because I get to hear from successful women who have paved their way to leadership in the business world. This organization can help me network and make connections while also giving me insight on how to prep for internships and careers in the future. In the future, I would like to remember the number of women that came together every week, and at every event to celebrate successful women. I feel that this helps separate me from my peers because I am involved in the school of business and STEM EE Scholars. It also shows my passion for women in leadership positions. I would tell my future employer that this organization has had a huge impact on my overall experience at Ohio State and prepared me for the future. I think that being a part of this organization shows that I have determination and passion for the path that I am on. This experience pushed me outside my comfort zone to meet new people and have new experiences that I never would have had without it, and I am so glad that I took the chance.
About Me
Hi! My name is Kylie Gambone and I am a freshman at the Ohio State University on the pre-law track pursuing a degree in business with a specialization in accounting and a minor in musical theatre. I am from Minerva, a small town in Ohio. I am a STEM Exploration and Engagement scholar and a member of Undergraduate Business Women’s Association, First Year Leadership Initiative, and STEM Outreach. In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing guitar, and acting. I am a huge supporter of the arts and I hope to continue to be while in college and throughout my life.
I am hoping to study abroad this summer because I love meeting new people, traveling, and learning about new cultures. After having the opportunity to spend two weeks with people from all over the world last summer at AMDA conservatory for music, it helped me discover my love for learning about new cultures. Currently, I am thinking about adding marketing or international business as another specialization. My goal is to work on getting into law school after my time here at Ohio State.
