I have recently gotten involved with a program called W.O.W. for community service. The goal of this program is to teach underprivilegedĀ children about STEM concepts. We go to inner city schools in Columbus to teach mainly math and science concepts. The program comes up with fun and interactive ways to efficiently teach new concepts to the children. I love getting to be involved with the children, and I feel that I learn just as much from them as they learn from me. They get so excited every time we come to visit them and I feel very blessed that I am able to help them. One little girl even told me that she hopes that she can be like me and go to college when she grows up. I admire being able to have an impact on children’s lives, even if it is in the smallest way possible. Math and science are such important core concepts that can help these children be successful no matter what path they choose to take in life. I plan on continuing to this program throughout the semester because I enjoy knowing that maybe I can be a small part in the getting these kids determined to do great things in life.
