G.O.A.L.S.

There are many activities, events, and organizations that I hope to be a part of to complete the G.O.A.L.S. of the honors program. I plan to complete global awareness by studying abroad during my time at Ohio State. I would like to travel to a Spanish speaking country to engage in and learn more about their culture. The study abroad program would allow me to gain a new appreciation for other communities and lifestyles around the world. The study abroad program would also allow me to further my Spanish speaking skills and allow me to observe the structure and behaviors of another part of the world, furthering my global awareness. Research is something that fascinates me and is something I hope to participate in while completing my undergraduate degree. I wish that by taking advanced course work and communicating with my professors, I will be able to get involved into a research study that I am passionate about and complete the Original Inquiry portion of G.O.A.L.S. I plan to complete Academic Enrichment by challenging myself with the many honors level and upper level courses that Ohio State has to offer. These upper level classes will expand my learning capacity and open my eyes to concepts I have never thought of before, allowing myself to become further engaged in my academic career and furthering my interests into certain subject areas. I often enjoy spending time with group organizations to give back and provide to the community. During my time here at Ohio State, I plan to join many student organizations that are focused in service. Performing in service activities, fundraising, and performing other types of community outreach are important to me, so the organizations I join will allow me to participate in these types of events. One organization I know that is philanthropic and does many fundraisers, is Buckeyethon. I hope to become further engaged in this organization and many others that will allow me to perform tasks of service. Also, being a leader is something that is very important to me. I hope to gain leadership roles in some of the organizations I join, allowing me to contribute in a benefice capacity. I also hope to become a peer mentor for incoming students at Ohio State, this would allow me to contribute to my fellow classmates and help develop my leadership skills. There are many aspects of G.O.A.L.S to complete during my time here at Ohio State, but there are many opportunities to accomplish these tasks as well. I plan to complete these goals before I graduate, which will allow me grow as a student and as a person.

About Me

My name is Emily Gage, and I am from Akron, OH. I am a first year and The Ohio State University. I am really looking forward to exploring all of the options this university and Columbus has to offer. I am undecided in my major, but I enjoy learning about the sciences. There are many activities I like to do in my free time; I go swimming or walking, watch Netflix, and hang out with friends. I can’t wait to try new and exciting things this year.
