Science Olympiad
The most important artifacts I have are the many medals I have won from various science olympiad competitions through my middle and high school career. Of these medals, the most important to me are the three I won at the nationals tournament in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2015. Simply getting to the national tournament is a feat of its own. However, actually getting a medal-a gold medal-is simply incredible. These medals all showed that my partner and I mastered the concepts for the events that we competed in. However, the gold medal showed that we not only mastered the event, but we were the best in the nation! These achievements show that I have the ability to understand and apply anything that I set my mind to.
Community Commitment
Another artifact is my devotion to community assistance. One of the first activities I got involved in when I got to college was the community commitment opportunity that allowed students to get involved in various community opportunities around the Columbus area. I helped remove invasive honeysuckle from forest ares around a community park. This activity meant a lot to me because I was able to identify and personally see the change I was inducing into the ecosystem of the forest by removing the invasive species. This program was a lot of fun and very valuable for my growth at college at it let me discover the opportunities available through community service.
