Artifacts

[Artifacts are the items you consider to be representative of your academic interests and achievements. For each entry, include both an artifact and a detailed annotation.  An annotation includes both a description of the artifact and a reflection on why it is important to you, what you learned, and what it means for your next steps.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen. G.O.A.L.S.

As an Honors and Scholars student, I hope to fulfill the “G.O.A.L.S.” presented to me. Global Awareness, Original Inquiry, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development, and Service Engagement are all very important to me and I hope to live by them throughout my time at The Ohio State University.

  • Global Awareness: Throughout my carrier at The Ohio State University, I hope to take many classes that will help promote my understanding of different cultures and to appreciate the diversity in the world. I hope to join the Natural and Prosperous Society which is a club that celebrates the beauty of natural hair and culture that surrounds it. It is very important to me that I am able to connect with people of all different backgrounds. I have been fortunate to travel abroad to France and learn about their history and culture and I wish to return to learn more at some point within my years at Ohio State.
  • Original Inquiry: I have not yet joined any research projects, but I hope to begin doing research in the summer continue throughout my college years. Research is important to me because I want to understand the research process and gain new and important experience that will help me in the future. I hope to do research within chemistry or biology as I would like to go into the medical field.
  • Academic Enrichment: Being in the Honors & Scholars program at The Ohio State University, I have the amazing opportunity to enroll in honor classes and I am going to take full advantage of these rigorous courses. I am currently enrolled in 1910H Honors Chemistry and 1100H Psychology. I hope to take many more honors classes and I hope to constantly challenge myself in the classroom.
  • Leadership Development: Being a leader is very important to me and I hope to gain more leadership skills while at The Ohio State University. By being on the Varsity Swim Team, I am fortunate to have many opportunities to become a leader. As I become an upperclassman I hope to lead the younger swimmers and help them through their transition to college. Swimming also gives me access to many leadership champs such as Buck-I-Lead which I hope to participate in.
  • Service Engagement: Giving back to the community has always been a big priority of mine and I hope to continue this while at The Ohio State University. I plan on volunteering through the St. Thomas More Newman Center which is the local catholic church. I will also be given many opportunities to help children at swim camps. My hometown of Bellefontaine, Ohio is still a big priority for me so when I return home I hope to continue to give back to my home community.
