About Laura Frizzell

Hello! I am Laura C. Frizzell, a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, I received my B.A. in Criminology and Spanish from the University of Miami (Florida), with minors in history and education, and my M.A. in sociology from here at OSU. Currently, I work as a research assistant for Dr. Mike Vuolo, Dr. Hollie Nyseth Brehm, and Dr. Kammi Schmeer.

My research primarily centers on crime and the criminal justice system, with two main sites of study: national and international. Nationally, I focus on the intersection of gender, sexuality, and race with the criminal justice system. Internationally, I focus on the long-term consequences of genocide for individuals and communities. Please see my research page for more details on current projects.
