What is Forced Sex Labor?

According to the International Labour Organization, forced labor is all work or service that is exacted from any person under the threat of a penalty. The person has not offered himself or herself voluntarily.

A person is first brought into forced labor by coercion. This is done through a variety of ways such as violence, intimidation, or ways that are not as noticeable such as manipulated debt, identity papers being withheld, or threats of deportation.

Sex trafficking is the exploitation of women and children for the purposes of forced sex work.

We see forced sex labor happening all around us. Through pornography, prostitution, and so much more, forced sex labor happens right before our eyes and many do not even realize it.
