Here are some things that Ohio State is doing about reducing food waste!

Growing from a small student organization in College Park, Maryland, the Food Recovery Network has become one of the biggest student-run hunger-fighting non-profits for raising awareness and steps to end unnecessary food waste and hunger. We have a chapter right on Ohio State’s campus and so far it has recovered 3014 pounds of food in 2021 alone!
Buckeye Food Alliance (https://www.buckeyefoodalliance.org/)
This organization was started to dispel the misconception that it is part of college to eat unhealthy or skip meals. Started by Alec Admonius, this organization is non-profit, student run food pantry led by volunteers. Buckeye Food Alliance pantry currently operates out of Lincoln Tower and serves to assist the many Ohio State students who are food insecure.

ESM is a student run publishing group that enables Ohio State students a platform to share their voice through writing articles about environmental related topics. The goal of this organization is to provide readers opinionated and fact-based pieces about the sustainability and the environment to help educate them.

KFW was founded by three food science majors at Ohio State who wanted to make a difference. This organization consists of students aiming to reducing, repurposing and educating about food waste on campus and have three committees dedicated to composting, repurposing, and education and outreach.
OSU Food Waste Collaborative (https://u.osu.edu/foodwaste/)
A student and facility run organization, led by Professor Brian Roe, that both conducts research and offers consultation on projects focused on food waste at Ohio State and across the state of Ohio. Their goal is to promote the reduction and redirection of food waste as an integral part of a healthy and sustainable food system.
