Challenges of a First Semester Freshman

I hadn’t had much experience with buses before moving to Columbus, but I have certainly gained more experience with riding the struggle bus this first semester of freshman year. The structure of time and the constant reminders of required assignments were two features of high school that I was not prepared to have without in college. Early in the semester, I did not know how to manage my time; I got very caught up in the social aspect of my new environment, and I was excited to meet and get to know new people. Consequently, weeknight sleepovers and daytime socializing destroyed my sleep schedule and my study and homework time. The resulting sleep deficit took a few weeks to fully fix, and the amount of productivity lost in those few weeks was certainly detrimental. However, as a result of this experience, I have learned how to better manage my time. I now know which assignments must be carefully managed over the span of several days, and which assignments can be prioritized at a later time. Furthermore, I am still working on managing my study time for my classes, but by the end of the semester, I hope to be a master time manager.
