About Me

My name is Mark Fongheiser, and I am a first year at The Ohio State University in the Neuroscience major. My home town is Mount Vernon, Ohio, where I attended St. Vincent de Paul elementary and middle school and Mount Vernon High School. I have a wide range of interests from theater to music to architecture, but I am primarily interested in the biological sciences, hence my majoring in neuroscience. Neuroscience particularly interests me because in high school, I stumbled upon articles describing how the reward system of the brain works, and how drugs, pornography, etc. can manipulate the natural reward system to cause the development of addictions. I became incredibly fascinated with this subject, and this interest has shaped my future goal of becoming a neuroscientist to study the addiction mechanism. Therefore, after graduating from The Ohio State University, I plan to attend a graduate school to earn my PhD.
