Year in Review
[ “Year in Review” is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student. You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year. G.O.A.L.S.
The G in GOALS stands for Global Awareness. This means gaining knowledge and an appreciation for the diversity and the ways that each and every one of the people here are different from everyone else. I aim to achieve this goal by joining many clubs where I can meet new people from new places to learn about them and their background. By doing this I will gain knowledge of all of the ways that people can be different. Even if its just because they have a hobby that you would have never heard of or they’re favorite food is different than yours. By leaning about all of our differences in this world, it can help me accept that we are all unique and we all have something that makes us special and different.
The O in GOALS stands of Original Inquiry. This involved going out of your way to learn something new or to take part in something educational to expand your knowledge. By being in the honors program, I am entitled to take more advanced classes. By doing this, I am expanding my mind in ways that not every college student will do in their time here. I will be learning in depth concepts at a fast pace with the best professors offered at this school. Because of this, I will be exposed to more knowledge and be exposed to more opportunities because of my involvement with such classes. I also plan of finding internships and research opportunities with these higher classes. The higher classes will help me find better internships where I will further expand my horizons and be able to learn more about the world and my field of study here at OSU.
The A in GOALS is Academic Enrichment. This goes along with Original Inquiry in the sense that you have a wide range of classes here at OSU and they all are more rigorous than the non honors classes. This allows for the classes to provide more information and more in depth classes than the non honors students would be taking. This allows me to absorb and gain more knowledge in my time here than others would. This allows me to have more opportunities because I have take more rigorous and information dense classes.
L stands for Leadership Development. This can be achieved by taking charge in classes and outside of classes. By becoming a leader, whether it’s by initiating group meeting times or by starting a club, I am allowing other people to thrive as well because I am helping them achieve. When someone starts becoming a leader in small ways, it paves the way for becoming a leader in even bigger ways. I plan to develop leadership skills by taking initiative during group projects and during group work such as in the labs. By doing this I can inspire others to become leaders as well. When everyone is a leader, then great things can happen.
The final letter in GOALS is S and it is for Service Engagement. This means helping out the community in any way possible. This can be achieved by joining service organizations that strive to help those in need. I can do this by joining a zoology club that helps the animals by going to organizations that need help with heir animals. By helping others and the community, it not only makes the community better but it makes you better as well.

About Me
My name is Carly Fisher and I am currently a student at the Ohio State University in the Arts and Sciences Undecided program. There are many subjects that I wish to study, two of my favorite ones being psychology and biology, but I was not able to confidently pick a specific major. I am from Springfield, Ohio, and I hope to figure out which subject is best for me here at OSU while also diving into the many opportunities that are here at this university. My goal is to one day be able to say that I am in a career that I love while still being able to keep up with my favorite hobbies, such as playing the guitar and drawing.
