Portrait Edit

In this portrait edit I used methods learned in class to rid of blemishes and enhance the eyes. I first began with a frequency separation to have ease in editing, I did this by creating two copies of my original layer and using apply image on one and gaussian blur on another. I then continued to enhance the eyes while still keeping everything else on the photo the same by adjusting the brightness and contrast properties of a separated layer. The final step in my edits I used multiple tools to rid of blemishes. I first began using the clone stamp tool to bring consistency into skin areas that weren’t on the texture layer. On the color layer I used the dodge and burn tools to bring or decrease shading and definition in certain areas.

In this edit I used the same methods as my other portrait edit. My process here was much smoother after remembering everything the first time around. I began with the same frequency separation. I continued by enhancing the eyes using the same method, with less effective results due to this photos lesser resolution. I primarily used dodge and burn rather than clone stamp to edit this portrait. Overall I lightened her face and areas that were slightly on the dark side like certain areas under the eyelids and burned the tip of her nose.
