A Year in Review

My freshman year at Ohio State was without a doubt the best, and hardest, year of my entire life. I met my best friends, friends that are sure to be lifelong, on my floor and through YoungLife. I learned how to be a real student, and learned that with a little bit of work, I really am capable of success. I grew in new ways and regressed in old ones, and most of all I created a reality for myself at this incredible university, so much so that I joined the University Ambassadors, an organization that provides tours prospective and admitted students, simply so that I can share in my love of Ohio State with others! I can’t imagine what the next year will be like, I have really high expectations. I have decided to switch my major from Biology to Exercise Science with a Biology minor, and still plan to attend medical school to be an Orthopedic Surgeon!

The Columbus Dream Center

Throughout the year, I spend the majority of my time at the Columbus Dream Center, a homeless ministry through Rock City Church. The Dream Center is a special place to me, week after week we are able to see the same people and are able to witness them make steps out of homelessness, addiction, and unemployment and into homes, recovery, and stable jobs to get them back on their feet. We are also able to see them grow spiritually, arguably the most important thing that happens there. Regardless, building connections with the homeless population of the Short North and Nationwide areas of Columbus has been a gift, and it will without a doubt be a ministry and something that I will give my time and heart to for years to come!
