Recognizing Moha in Sitecore Troubleshooting

the pig representing Moha, or ignorance

Moha (Sanskrit, Pali; Tibetan phonetic: timuk) is a Buddhist term commonly translated as “ignorance”, “delusion”, “bewilderment”, “stupidity”, etc. In the Theravada tradition, moha is considered to be a fundamental ignorance of the nature of reality. In the Mahayana tradition, moha is defined as a sub-category of this fundamental ignorance, that is a dumbfounded state of not knowing what to do–a state of being deeply clouded, in which the mind is not clear.

The above entry in Wikipedia perfectly describes the “ignorance” that began after my first introduction to Sitecore. Buddhism refers to the three kleshas or afflictions that cloud the mind, ignorance is the first of these.

Sitecore troubleshooting is less of a pig and more of a bear. Where do you begin? Republish, reindex, well what if that doesn’t work? There are a series of steps, processes to the puzzle and the path is never as clear as it may seem. I have dealt with numerous issues and used logic to create a solution based on tests with no avail.

Start here a great blog with some simple ideas to look into first. If you have any other suggestions, let me know.

You can always go all the way back to the basics, a great set of videos are available by Sitecore CEP

Taoism of Sitecore development

As a developer at the CCC I have been gathering a wealth of experiences using C# alongside our Sitecore install. The path of struggle, suffering, and enlightenment fits the title accordingly.

In the continuous loop of improvement and reiteration, I seek out fellow developers in the university environment. If you are out there, let me know.
