I had the pleasure to attend the Know Your Value Conference with Dr. Mary Juhas from OSU Gender Initiatives. I hope my students and colleagues get a chance to attend. In the meantime, please take the time to hear the keynote speech presented by Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri. Her words are important for all of us. You may even see me sitting in the front row with Dr. Juhas! Enjoy.

Understand the gap between what science knows and what business does.  An excellent TED talk about the importance of autonomy, mastery, and purpose to make the most of your work. See where it will take you. #creativity

Thanks for the Feedback!

Watch this during a workout or a nice drive. It’s a must read and I recently used this in my junior honors class. I think it’s helpful for students to understand the feedback process, especially when working on a thesis or dissertation. Please enjoy and buy the book. Keep it in your gym bag or briefcase. I have read this several times and always pick up something new. Enjoy!!

Dear Dr. Drew, Thank You!!

barbara drew

This week I am highlighting the work from one of the best in the field- Dr. Barbara Drew. I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Drew in 2013. She is the David Mortara Distinguished Professor in Physiological Nursing Research and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco. I consider her work a great example of how pure perseverance can lead to sustained improvements in healthcare quality and policy initiatives. Her research is recognized both nationally and internationally as hospitals and healthcare providers work to manage the issues related to alarm fatigue. I’m personally honored to know her and I hope you take a moment to listen to her NINR Nursing Research Director’s Lecture. To Dr. Drew- thanks for the inspiration!!
