My First Week at OSU

My First Week at OSU

My name is Kimberly Fennell and I am so excited yet nervous to be at Ohio State. The things that I am most excited for this year are the student clubs and organizations. I cannot wait to get involved on campus and with the activities that are scheduled for this year. The things that I am most scared for are getting lost, not just literately but figuratively as well. I am afraid of getting lost on my way to class but also, I am afraid of losing myself due to stress and misguided discussions.

My first week was not as stressful as I had initially thought, however, it still brought on some stress. I was not expecting one of my classes to have multiple books and another class that I initially should be easy does not sound as if it will be, although, I will probably pull through somehow. One of the most challenging things was probably trying to track down all the right books for the cheapest price. I had to order some books from Amazon and others I went to the Student Book Exchange to get. There are still some books that I am confused about and need to ask teachers about but thankfully I will not need those books until the third week of school.

My expectations for my OSU experience is to learn about things that I find interesting and meet people from all different cultural and social backgrounds. I also hope to discover new things about myself. My expectations for my Humanities Scholars program is to experience things that I have never had the chance to do before and to connect and grow within the community of the other Humanities Scholars. I also hope to make all types of memories with the people that reside within the walls of not just Baker East but Baker West as well.
