UN Healthcare Project

Picture1

Our group completed the Millennium Goals project on Maternal Health Care, specifically in India. This has become a severe issue for many mothers worldwide and especially in many developing nations, with less access to key resources that decrease risks and complications with all of the stages of childbirth and maternity. Factors such as education, political rule, parenthood planning, employment, hygiene and more all  contribute to the quality of Maternal Health Care in any given region.

From this project I was able to learn how affected women around the world are from a lack of maternal health care. Often, women in India resort to home-deliveries because of the high cost of proper hospitals, the medication required, etc. Maternity-related issues contribute to the majority of deaths and disabilities among women who are of a reproductive age in India.

By finishing this presentation I expanded my knowledge about the difficulties of motherhood, specifically in developing nations where there is a significant drop-off in maternal health care which directly correlates to a lack of resources, education and other factors affecting maternal health care. The UN Millennium Goals presentation opened my eyes to the everyday struggle that occurs in regions like South Asia. It is important to learn as much as possible about these ongoing world affairs in order to make strides towards improvement and hopefully bring forth positive changes across the world.

About Me

Hey guys! My name is Kyle Fein and I am from Maryland. This is a pretty big change for me, but I am very excited to be attending Ohio State and know I will meet some great people. I am very social, and like interacting with others.

I enjoy working with others and am, for the most part, a visual learner.

I have been passionate about athletics my entire life. I competed in gymnastics for 9 years and wrestled throughout high school. I am majoring in International Relations and hoping to work in the government after I graduate and obtain a masters degree. Because I have a great interest in international affairs, I was led to the International Affairs Scholars Program. I have had the opportunity to study abroad and meet a wide array of people who have similar interests to mine.

This summer I plan to continue developing my interest in foreign affairs by studying abroad in Israel for one month at Tel Aviv University. I look forward for the opportunity to learn about different cultures first-hand and develop a newfound sense of independence.
