Pokemon: Quick Battle utilizes two button boards for control, with the button on the far left corresponding to the number 1, and the button on the far right corresponding to the number 6.

Once the game is started and the title screen has been displayed, the main menu will launch with the following four choices:

  • 1.) Play – Play the game
  • 2.) Instructions – View the rules of the game
  • 3.) Statistics – Open the statistics menu
  • 4.) Credits – View information on the creators of the game

1.) Play

When you select the “Play” feature, the game will launch.  It will first display which Pokemon has been randomly selected as your enemy.  It will then give you the following list of Pokemon to choose from:

  • 1.) Pikachu
  • 2.) Charizard
  • 3.) Blastoise
  • 4.) Venusaur
  • 5.) Magikarp**

**When selecting Magikarp, you have a random chance of receiving Gyarados, the evolution of Magikarp.

Be careful when selecting your Pokemon, as some types are more effective against others.

Counters:

  • Water counters Fire
  • Water counters Rock
  • Grass counters Water
  • Grass counters Rock
  • Fire counters Grass
  • Rock counters Fire
  • Electric counters Water

After selecting a Pokemon, the battle will start.  The screen will display the HP of both your Pokemon and the enemy Pokemon.  It will then allow you to choose between four moves:

1.) Damage Ability*

2.) Damage Ability*

3.) Heal

4.) Run^

*Damage abilities are unique for each Pokemon, while every Pokemon has a heal.

^Running will quit the game, but will also count as a loss

Once you select a move, the game will either damage the enemy Pokemon or heal you Pokemon, depending on your choice.  The enemy will then select a random move, and either damage your Pokemon or heal itself

After both Pokemon have made a move, if either one has an HP of zero or less, the game will end.  If your Pokemon’s HP is zero, the game will record a loss.  If the enemy Pokemon’s HP is zero, the game will record a win.

Once the game has been completed, you will be returned to the main menu.

2.) Instructions

Once you choose the Instructions tab, a list of rules will appear.  Pressing the far right button will return you to the main menu at any time.

3.) Statistics Menu

Once you choose the Statistics tab, a menu will pop up with the following options:

  • 1.) View Stats- View wins and losses
  • 2.) Reset Stats- Reset wins and losses back to zero

Pressing the far right button will return you to the main menu at any time.

4.) Credits

Once you choose the Credits tab, information on the creators of the game and the programs used to create it will be displayed.  Pressing the far right button will return you to the main menu at any time.
