Joe Wilson

Aptiv

Joe is from the Warren (OH) Technical Center of Aptiv, where he is a staff application engineer at Aptiv Connection Systems and participates on Aptiv’s recruiting team. In 35 years with Aptiv (formerly Delphi) he has worked around the world, including a three-year assignment in Europe. He has been responsible for several connection system innovations, including high-current connections found in today’s electric and hybrid vehicles. He is currently developing connection systems for control modules for autonomous driving systems. He graduated from OSU with his BS in mechanical engineering in 1985.


Kelsey Riffle

ArcelorMittal

Kelsey is a Product Control Engineer at the Cleveland-Cliffs Burns Harbor location outside of Chicago. She is a 2018 graduate of Ohio State, earning a B.S. in materials science and engineering. She remains connected to the Society of Women Engineers and the American Foundry Society at Ohio State and advocates for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.


Taylor Thomas

ArcelorMittal

Taylor is a Technical Service Metallurgical Engineer at the Cleveland-Cliffs Burns Harbor facility near Chicago. She began working with ArcelorMittal as a quality assurance engineer when she graduated from Ohio State with her B. S. in materials science and engineering in 2018. She has also interned with Harley-Davidson.


Leonid “Leo” Glimcher

Broadcom

Leo has been a member of the FEH family for 20+ years, participating in the program as a both a student and a TA. He earned his BS, MS, and PhD in Computer Science Engineering from Ohio State, focusing on high performance computing and the data grid. His industry experience includes working in edge routing products at Cisco and on a performance NIC at Broadcom.


Cheryl Verbeke

Caterpillar

Cheryl currently leads the Data Management team as part of Cat Digital and is involved in recruiting for both engineering and digital roles. In her 23 years at Caterpillar, she has also held roles in product engineering, procurement, strategy, and analytics.  She graduated from Ohio State in December 1993 with her BS in electrical engineering.


Stephanie O’Neill

Caterpillar

Stephanie is a Supply Chain Manager at Caterpillar’s facility in Wamego, KS, where she is responsible for the supply chain strategy for Cat Work Tools in North America. She has worked for Caterpillar for 15 years. A 2006 graduate of Ohio State, she holds a B. S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering.


Shelley Glimcher

Friends of FEH

Shelley is a former FEH participant, UTA, GTA and Lecturer. Her involvement with the FEH program inspired her to recently complete a doctorate in Technology, Engineering, and Design Education with an emphasis on spatial thinking abilities. She currently serves as a member of the FEH Advisory Board.


David Frank

Garmin

David is a software engineer for Garmin’s R&D group. His group focuses on prototyping new products or categories that Garmin might be interested in expanding into. He is a proud OSU alumnus, completing both his bachelor’s and master’s in computer engineering at The Ohio State University. He is also a proud member of the FEH family, having been both an undergraduate teaching assistant and graduate teaching associate for the program.


Kirk Montgomery

General Electric

Kirk graduated from Ohio State in 1988 with a BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and with an MS in 1990.  He is a Consulting Engineer for CFM56 Engine Systems at GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio, and also currently the CFM56 Airbus Programs Integration Leader and the Engine Systems Design Board Chairman.  He is also a core member of the General Electric recruiting team for Ohio State and has been with GE Aviation for over 30 years.


Gretchen Karnopp

General Mills

Gretchen is an alumna of Ohio State (BS Mechanical Engineering – ’04) and FEH and is originally from Hamilton, Ohio.  She has worked for General Mills in various locations for 18 years, including an internship while a student at Ohio State.  She is currently Plant Technical Manager for the General Mills site in Murfreesboro, TN which makes Yoplait yogurt and Pillsbury dough products.  She also leads engineering recruitment at Ohio State for General Mills and is proud to have two recent Buckeye Engineering graduates at her plant and a Buckeye Engineering intern joining the team this summer!


Jeff Haferd

Marathon Petroleum Corporation

Jeff is an Integrity Engineering Facilities Supervisor with Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Findlay, OH. He is a graduate of Wright State University with his B. S. in Mechanical Engineering. He has worked for Marathon his entire career and heads their Ohio State Adopt a College team.


Jessica Whitehead

New Albany High School

Jessica teaches physics, physical science, and engineering at New Albany High School, where she has also served as the technical director for their theatre program for many years. A two-time graduate of Ohio State (B.S. in physics and M. Ed), she loves visiting escape rooms.


Erik Shaw

Northrop Grumman

Erik is an alumnus of OSU (‘03) and FEH (’98-’99), finishing 2nd in his FEH robot competition. He has worked for Northrop Grumman in Cincinnati since 2004. At Northrop Grumman, he develops cyber software products on both embedded and PC platforms for multiple DOD and government customers. Erik also assists in Northrop Grumman’s recruiting at OSU.


Ryan Powell

Northrop Grumman

Ryan is a 2019 graduate of Ohio State, with a B. S. in Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering, and has been working at Northrop Grumman ever since. He was a teaching assistant for the FEH program for 3 years, helping with the programming of the robot course scoring systems.


Ann Christy

The Ohio State University College of Engineering

Ann is a professor of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering and a professor of Engineering Education at the Ohio State University. She holds degrees in Agricultural Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, and is a registered professional engineer. She has won numerous awards at Ohio State for her teaching and service, and she served as the President of the Ohio State Academy of Teaching. She is a fellow of the American Society for Engineering Education.


Dave Tomasko

The Ohio State University College of Engineering

Dave is currently the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education and Student Services in Ohio State’s College of Engineering and is also a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He was the principal investigator on the National Science Foundation grant that developed the first-year nanotechnology research and design project, an option for FEH students that is parallel to this escape room project. He has won awards for his teaching, research, and service while at Ohio State.


Bob Horton

The Ohio State University College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences

Bob is an extension specialist in Ohio State’s College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences, where he specializes in curriculum design, school enrichment programs, and a variety of special events in K12 science education. He has also served on the school board for Worthington City Schools.


Brian Raderstorf

The Procter & Gamble Company

Brian was an FEH student in 2011 and an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the following 3 years. While with FEH he helped design and build two of the robot courses and ran the student machine shop until he graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 2016. In college he interned for Procter & Gamble three times in two locations and started full time in 2016. He now works on the packaging for Fabric Care brands such as Tide, Downy, and Tide Pods.


Anjali Patel

Ratner Montessori School

Anjali teaches 7th and 8th grades at The Lillian and Betty Ratner Montessori School, a private school associated with the Orange School District in Pepper Pike, Ohio.   She is a sci-fi and fantasy nerd who loves pizza and Mexican food. Her family is from India, though she was born in Canada.


Tom Foster

Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville

Tom is a professor of physics at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, where he has been recognized for his outstanding teaching. A native of Heath, OH, Tom graduated from Ohio State with his B.S. in physics in 1990. His graduate work at the University of Minnesota and postdoctoral work at Carnegie Mellon University led to his expertise in cooperative learning and problem-solving research. He has offered numerous national workshops on both topics for STEM educators.


Connor Boham

Vision Makers

Connor is here representing VisionMakers. He will be graduating from Ohio State in 2021 with a double major in math and computer science and engineering. He has also interned at Capital One.


Brian Geniusz

Worthington City Schools

Brian is the Science, Health, and Physical Education Curriculum Leader for Worthington City Schools, a position he has held since 2008. He conceived and directs the annual Worthington Science Day, an event that brings together a science fair, Invention Convention, and engineering design challenge for all ages under one roof. He earned a B. S. in biology and an M. Ed. in science education from Ohio State.


Sara Quart

Worthington City Schools

Sara Quart teaches science at Thomas Worthington High School. In addition to teaching a special one-semester science elective course in forensics that she developed, she teaches the biology component of the school’s coordinated STEM curriculum. She is on the steering committee for the district’s annual science day, co-coordinating the science fair portion of it. She has three elementary school age sons.
