Fantastic Escape Headquarters (FEHQ) is preparing for business to resume as usual, post-COVID. When they reopen, they would like to attract a wider variety of guests. The teams at the showcase have designed escape rooms that they hope FEHQ will choose for one of their new venues.
Audience
The new attraction must target one of the following groups:
- birthday parties for elementary school children
- middle school groups on field trips
- team building experiences during small business retreats
Theme
The room must have a theme and story line that are appropriate for the target population. The attraction will contain between four and six puzzles involving physical manipulation of objects in the room, plus one puzzle that is more of a logic or paper-and-pencil style.
The theme:
- may not duplicate one already offered by FEHQ (bomb diffusion, bank heist, or zombie prison break)
- may not involve imprisonment, handcuffing, etc. of people/animals
- may not result in death/injury to people/animals if the guests are not successful in escaping
Available Spaces
The attraction must fit in one of three existing spaces that FEHQ recently acquired (shown below). Teams chose which space they would use. Each space has features that cannot be removed, and any items that were left behind by previous occupants of the space needed to be incorporated into the design.
Equipment
Teams were given use of the following:
- Elegoo Arduino Uno controllers + kits (1 per student)
- $100 prototype budget
- SolidWorks CAD software
- 3D printing, laser cutting, and machining services
