In-Class Showcase Results

Test 1: Course A

It had been known that Course A would be our worst course because of issues from the start with getting up the shorter ramp. We tried to quickly write a separate program that would have the robot drive up the steeper ramp in the hopes of still getting points on the upper deck but were unsuccessful and got a total of 9 points.

Test 2: Course B

Course B would have been our best course, having scored 60/75 points in prior practices and trial runs. However, with the amount of code iterations tried past the working code of that version, the robot was unable to function as normal and this run was also a failure.

Test 3: Course C

Course C was the best run out of the three. The robot was able to get up the ramp, drop the luggage into the carrier, and press one of the buttons which garnered a total score of 31. This score was still not great, but it showed an improvement to the last two runs.

Reflection

Since the issues on the course seem to be from RPS precision and the code, the plan is to edit and test the code as much as possible in the coming week before the showcase. We have not decided if we will choose to have our entire grade come from the showcase runs, but we are definitely considering it, especially if we can refine the errors in our current code. Coming up with an individualized plan depending on the course and including a few, tested hard coded values would be a good idea for the future.
