In Performance Test 2, the robot was required to start at the starting position, press the button that the light indicated on the button panel, and then touch the wrench for bonus [1]. To accomplish these tasks, shaft encoding was implemented to increase precision. This approach was much more successful than using timing to navigate. However, the group still had difficulty navigating to the light. On February 28, 2018, the robot attempted Performance Test 2, and on the first two attempts, the robot was unsuccessful in hitting the correct button. This was mainly due to inconsistent lineup of the robot and lack of a colored filter. Eventually, the team made a cardboard cutout to line the robot up, and the robot completed Performance Test 2 on the third try. The main takeaway for Performance Test 2 was that the initial lineup position of the robot was very important.
