Instructions:

  • Connect the Vishay TSOP2240 IR Receiver to the Proteus in the appropriate orientation. Figure 1 below labels the pins of the receiver; Figure 2 labels the appropriate pins on the Proteus:
    • Pin 1 goes in the P0_0 input pin
    • Pin 2 goes in the +3.3V pin
    • Pin 3 goes in Ground pin

  • Boot up the FEH Proteus, and a White Screen should display a large Block O and “Proteus” text.
  • After the welcome message and prompt appears, touch the screen once to begin the frequency detection.
  • With the receiver and Proteus 6-18 inches away from the IR emission beacon, test the program with 25, 40, 65, 80, and 110 Hz IR radiation emissions. Feel free to randomize the order! The Proteus should display the correct frequency of the emitted radiation. If no radiation is detected, 0 Hz will be displayed as the current frequency. Figure 3 below shows the appropriate setup for signal detection.

  • When desired, touch the screen once to end the program.
