Overview
The satellite was one of the last things to be addressed, both because it was the last performance test and because it was one of the easier mechanisms. From the beginning it was planned to be something simple that stuck out from the main chasiss.
Issues
The dimensions and material were the main things to be considered when designing the satellite turner. Erector pieces and leftover PVC were considered. It was also important to note the
- overall dimension constraints–the extension could not go past the constraints
- placement–there are chassis screws at the sides of the robot, and the extension could not interfere with the button-press plate, as they are both 0n the same side.
It was finally decided that an L-shaped piece of wood would be screwed in with the chassis screws and extend from the top of the side.
Performance Test 4
PT4 went well–which included all possible bonus points. It was done through a sort of “parallel parking” method to insinuate the extension at the base of the antenna.
