About Me

Introduction

My name is Megan Feeney, and I am currently a first-year student working towards completing a Bachelor of Science in Design degree at The Ohio State University. I intend to major in Visual Communication Design and throughout my studies and beyond, I intend to learn the best tools to visually communicate ideas that can solve problems and improve life for others.

What Design Means to Me

To me, design is a visual form of communication that should aim to strike emotion in the viewer and connect groups of people by solving common problems. Alongside progression in our society, the audiences and purposes of design will continuously change. Although change is intimidating, it is inevitable, and what I love most about design is that the world will always need new designs and solutions. I intend to learn skills needed in order to use design in ways that will help others and visualize solutions for issues, both large and small. I am also specifically looking forward to learning more about typography and the impact typography has on design, as most of my previous work has revolved around calligraphy and typefaces.

Previous Work

Throughout the past few years, I have worked on a project creating “cards of hope” which are motivational cards that I donate to cancer patients. I design these cards in hopes of bringing joy into the lives of those going through the struggles of cancer. Throughout my time as an undergraduate student and after I graduate, I plan to use design with similar intentions of improving others’ quality of life.
