Goal: To reach the gate and stop until the gate opens, and then pass through the gate.
Outcome: The vehicle successfully completed the task at hand earning a 16/16.
The AEV used in the first performance test consisted mainly of the sample vehicle design with the addition of the servo motor acting as a braking system. The servo proved to be extremely effective as it stopped the vehicle instantaneously at the gate based on code that made the servo arm rotate upward upon reaching a certain absolute position. The vehicle then stopped for 7 seconds to allow the gate to open, and the servo arm rotated back down and allowed the vehicle to travel beyond the gate.
