Coasting vs. Power Breaking

Power Braking:
Pros
  • Smoother stop
  • Stops on “demand”
Cons
  • Uses more power
Coasting:
Pros
  • Uses less power overall than power breaking
  • Can accelerate faster and then cover more distance as it slows down and coasts
  • Only needs to accelerate for a short amount of time at lower speeds
Cons
  • Takes longer to slow down (time)
  • Needs more space (longer distance) to slow down and come to a complete stop
2. Provide data obtained from the lab.
3. Address which method your team will use moving forward with supporting
evidence.
Our group will be using a little of both coasting and power braking to save power and stop our AEV accurately.
