Conduct interview #1 with a potential user PRIOR to development

  1. What are some games you have played recently?
    • He has played Rocket League, Halo, Minecraft and Master Chief Collection, using an Xbox.
  2. What are some games you might enjoy playing on MATLAB?
    • He enjoyed the battleship idea, he is also a big fan of chance games, so a dice rolling game peaks the interest.
  3. In your opinion what is the optimal length a game should take to play?
    • The optimal length depends on what the game does, is it a campaign story or is it a simple few task game. 10 to fifteen minutes is a solid length for a more simple game.
  4. What aspects of a game make it enjoyable for you to play?
    • The story of a game is normally the most appealing, and then the ability to play the game multiple times is also very important. Those categories can excel a game and make it more enjoyable.

Conduct interview #2 with a user after beta testing (must be different person than #1)

  1. What are some games you have played recently?
    • She has played mobile online Solitaire and Super Mario Bros on a Nintendo Switch.
  2. What are some games you might enjoy playing on MATLAB?
    • She decided battleship, checkers and poker would be optimal games to play on MATLAB.
  3. In your opinion what is the optimal length a game should take to play?
    • Any simple game should be no more than a half hour, something easy to kill some time but then she doesn’t want to get bored either.
  4. What aspects of a game make it enjoyable to you to play?
    • She enjoys straightforward games that do not get super involved. Easy directions makes for a better game.
  5. When playing this game, which aspects did you enjoy?
    • Very clear directions made the game easy to play and was a uniquely fun way to burn some time.
  6. When playing this game, what changes would you recommend?
    • She said images would have made the game more appealing visually, it was a little bland to read especially in the font.

We want anybody to be able to play this as a fun way to unwind and relax.

Conduct interview #1 with a potential user PRIOR to development

  1. What are some games you have played recently?
    • Recently, he has played Fortnite, Madden 20, World of Tanks, and Rocket League on Xbox as well as 2048 on his phone.
  2. What are some games you might enjoy playing on MATLAB?
    • He said he would enjoy playing simple strategy games that are designed for just one person or a small group of people.
  3. In your opinion what is the optimal length a game should take to play?
    • He thinks the optimal length of one round of a game should be no longer than 10 minutes. Otherwise, he loses interest and no longer has desire to play.
  4. What aspects of a game make it enjoyable for you to play?
    • Games involving some sort of strategy are the most enjoyable games for him. He likes to be forced to think about his next move and keep his mind active in games.

  1. What are some games you have played recently?
    • She has recently played Terraria, Minecraft, and Valorant.
  2. What are some games you might enjoy playing on MATLAB?
    • She thinks games such as Yahtzee, Uno or other games that could be single player would be interesting to play on MATLAB.
  3. In your opinion what is the optimal length a game should take to play?
    • It would depend on the game whether it is card game or strategy, maybe up to an hour or longer with friends was her preference in game length.
  4. What aspects of a game make it enjoyable to you to play?
    • She enjoys creativity in the game, art styles especially, along with more intricate games.
  5. When playing this game, which aspects did you enjoy?
    • The simplicity of the game made it easy to understand and enjoyable for short periods of time, along with fun dice that pop up on the screen.
  6. When playing this game, what changes would you recommend?
    • She felt the type of the game was simple and it ran that way so there was very little criticism to be given.
