War

The game of war is a card game of luck typically played with two players.  In the game, a deck of 52 cards is shuffled, then distributed evenly among the two players.  Then each player shows the top card of their smaller respective deck and their values are compared to one another; the player whose card has the highest value takes both cards back and gets to keep them in his/her deck.  The player who takes all 52 cards wins!  In our version of the game, there are 26 rounds, and rather than playing another player, you are playing against the computer.  Whoever wins the most hands(rounds) at the end of the 26 rounds, wins the game!  To play, the user is first prompted to press the number 1 and hit enter to start the game.  Each player’s deck of 26 card will load onto the screen, figure 1 showing player One’s deck and figure 2 showing player Two’s deck.  The user may use these figures as guidance and to follow along as they play through the game.  To draw/compare their card’s value to that of the computer’s card, the user must press 1 and hit enter.  The system will then display which player had the card with the highest value and that player will get a point for winning the round.  The player at the end with the most rounds won will win the game!

Blackjack

The game of blackjack is a betting game.  The user will start with $100 and have to decide an amount of money to bet.  To do this the user must type in how much money to bet, the bet must be greater than 0 and less than their money (with the option of betting 0 to quit the game).  The user will be given two cards and be able to see one of the dealers cards.  The goal of the game is to get your hand as close to 21 as possible. Cards 2-10 are valued respectively as 2-10, kings, queens, and jacks are valued at 10, and the ace is valued at 11 or 1 (11 if the hand is less than 21 and 1 if the hand is over 21.  The user decides whether to hit (receive another card) or stand (and end their turn) by typing either ‘Hit’ or ‘Stand’ into the console when prompted.  If the user’s hand surpasses the value of 21, the user busts and loses their bet.  If the user stays under 21, the dealer has to hit if their hand is valued under 17.  If the dealer’s hand surpasses 21, the user wins their bet.  In the case that neither the user or the dealer busts, the hands are compared.  Whoever is closer to 21 wins with the condition that the dealer wins with a tie.
