Chili Cook Off with Beef; Championship of the County, Round 3!

Last year’s Champions! Don’t be left out as this may be the last Chili Cook Off. The FCCA is hoping to explore a different beef recipe contest next year for your enjoyment . . . (rumor is, it might involve BBQ brisket next year!)

That’s right . . . the Chili Cook Off with Beef; Championship of the County returns to the Fairfield County Fair in October. The competition the past two years has been intense with a total of 50 pots of chili made with beef (as the only meat) being presented for judging on Thursday of those Fairs. This year’s event will again be held in the AGmazing Agri-Center near the Rickett’s Hall beginning at 2:00 p.m. on October 12, 2017 and is open to all Fairfield County residents.

The 2017 Chili cook off will again feature Cambell Parrish of the Ohio Beef Council as he discusses the versatility and virtues of including beef in the diet, and offering prizes to the audience for their participation throughout judging. At the conclusion of judging, the audience will have the opportunity to sample each of the award winning chili’s.

To enter, the recipe should include beef as the only meat, plus no more than 12 additional ingredients including any condiments. Find the rest of the entry details linked here.

Entries must be made through the Fairfield County Senior Fair Board office on the Fairgrounds through the normal “open class” entry procedure. Enter Class #118 in Entry Book 40, found on page 60 of the Fairfield County Fair Entry Book. Senior Fair Entry Books may be picked up at the Fair Board office located on the Fairgrounds, or found linked here. The entry form may be found in the back of the Fair Entry Book and entry deadline is Monday, September 25 at 4 p.m.

Also, stay tuned for the second printing of the Chili Cook Off with Beef recipe books that will include all entries from the three years of the contest. These free books will be available after the Fair at Bay Food Market.

This contest is sponsored by the Fairfield County Cattlemen’s Association with the support of the Ohio Beef Council. The goal is to find the very best Chili that’s made with beef in this County!
