If you know a young person who is planning to expand the size and scope of their 4-H or FFA SAE project, this youth loan opportunity may be for them.
The Farm Service Agency (FSA), an agency of the United State Department of Agriculture, makes loans available to individual youth to establish and operate income-producing projects in connection with their participation in FFA and 4-H and other similar organizations. To be eligible for funding, projects must be a part of their organized and supervised program of work designed to provide practical business and educational experience. The youth must also have the help of an organization advisor and the project must be designed to produce sufficient income to repay the loan. Youth loans up to a maximum of $5000 are available to young persons between the ages of 10 and 20 years, and may be used to:
- Buy livestock, seed, equipment and supplies;
- Buy, rent or repair needed tools and equipment;
- Pay operating expenses for the project.
