About Me

Hello!! I’m a first year Pharmaceutical Sciences major in the BSPS program and a Clinical Pyschology minor, in the Health Sciences Scholars program. With this degree, I plan to either become a hospital pharmacist or a cardiologist/cardiothoracic surgeon. While I am unsure as to whether I want to go pre-med or pre-pharm, I am certain that I want to go into the medical field and I hope that a mix of pharmacy classes and health science related clubs and the scholars program will guide me to a clear path. I was born in South Korea, but have lived in the United States, specifically Cincinnati, Ohio for my entire life. In high school I was in clubs like Student Government, Science National Honor Society, HOSA, and Spanish National Honor Society. I am looking into joining Undergraduate Student Government, medical/pharmacy clubs, and cultural Asian clubs. This semester, I will also be a volunteer at The Wexner Medical Center and I am so excited to get involved, find my passion, and most importantly be a buckeye.

Year in Review

I’m not even going to lie, this year was pretty bad. I started first semester certain that I was going to transfer to USC after my first year, so I already had negative thoughts towards where I was at and how everything was. Academics were harder than I expected, and it was hard to keep up with them, sleep, be social, work, and volunteer, but I did it. And I made some amazing friends, joined student organizations that I am passionate about, got a job related to my professional goals, and realized there were so many benefits of being close to home. Second semester was even worse academically, but my friendships and involvements thrived, and while I didn’t get the grades I was expecting, I am happy were I ended up. Some advice that I would give to myself is:

-Studying for an extra hour at 2 am is not going to help, just go to bed instead.

-18th Avenue Library is literally the worst library on campus besides Thompson, don’t waste time walking around for 20 minutes finding a seat when the smaller libraries are so much less busy.

-If your parents ask you if you want to go home for the weekend, the answer is yes even if you think no at first, just say yes instead of calling them at Friday at 1 pm crying that you do actually want to come home.

-School and Grades are so important but so are people, relationships, and finding YOUR fit. Don’t be afraid to reach out to people, or go to meetings alone about something you’re passionate about, you’ll make friends.

While my year did not start or end the way I thought it would, I feel so blessed to be where I am and there is nowhere else that I would rather be. I am so excited for the next 3 years here !!

G.O.A.L.S.

I chose to get my 20 service hours for this semester through Wexner Medical Center. For the autumn semester, I volunteered every Friday (that didn’t fall on a holiday at the Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza from 9am-12pm. At this location, I helped with getting patients registered for their appointments and sometimes walked patients to their department in the three story plaza. In the spring semester, I volunteered at the Brain and Spine Hospital on the Same Day Surgery Floor every Monday from 3pm-6pm. At this location, I cleaned and prepped the surgical beds, delivered patient belongings, and brought patients to their car.  I plan to continue volunteering here throughout undergraduate years.
