Internship Basics

What is an internship?

An internship is a supervised career related work experience that allows students to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to a work environment. Internships are meant to enhance student’s education by giving opportunities for career exploration and encouraging development. Students are required to work 180 hours during the semester and employers to fill out an evaluation at the end of the internship.

FRST 3191

FRST 3191 is the supervised practical experience which is required for all Fashion and Retail majors. The online course must be taken concurrently while completing the approved internship experience. There are several resources to use while searching for an internship including buckeye career network (http://careers.osu.edu/students/buckeye-careers-network/), industry websites as well as attending career fairs on campus. Once you get an internship you need to complete the Student Learning Agreement (http://ehe.osu.edu/career-services/internship/) with your internship site supervisor and be sure your supervisor signs the forms. You will find this form at the bottom of http://ehe.osu.edu/career-services/internship/. Once you have completed this form with signatures, scan and email to Joyce Brooks at brooks.691@osu.edu. Once your internship is approved you will be added to FRST 3191.
