April 1 HCTC Tour and Presentation

Please join The Friends of the Historic
Costume & Textiles Collection for a morning
of coffee, snacks and historic fashion.

A tour of the current exhibition, All Wrapped Up:
A Sampling of Fashionable Outerwear will follow
presentations about two fascinating figures in Ohio
costume and fashion history:

Sophie Wachner, Akron born costume and dress designer
who became the first director of costumes for Goldwyn
Studios in 1919, and

Herman Patrick Tappé, a hat and dress designer born in
Sidney, OH, who was called the “Poiret of New York” and
became society’s favorite wedding designer in the 1930s
