G.O.A.L.S.

Global Awareness:

This upcoming summer, I plan on interning abroad in Australia through Fisher’s Summer Global Internship Program. I am very excited for this opportunity because I will be able to gain accounting experience in a professional setting while traveling and exploring a different country and different cultures. I have traveled before, but I have always wanted to visit Australia, so I am really looking forward to this international experience.

Original Inquiry:

As a business major, there are not very many research opportunities, however I am able to engage in original inquiry through in class business cases and use these learned skills in the real world. I am able to grow personally, academically, and professionally through the my experiences at Ohio State in and out of the classroom.

Academic Enrichment:

Unlike last year, I am finally taking core classes that relate to my major – accounting. Before, it was very hard to stay motivated because I was undecided on what I wanted to study and most of my classes were either trial and error or general education courses. My coursework was not very rigorous and I had nothing I was really working towards. However, this year, I am taking many business courses as well a few for my psychology minor and I am really excited to finally have a set plan for my future.

Leadership Development:

I am currently a member of Mount Leadership Society Scholars, which focuses on serving the community and leadership. Mount has definitely allowed me to expand my leadership skills through organizing service projects, building retionshiops with alumni and faculty on campus, and attending leadership workshops. I plan to be involved in Mount all 4 years of college and I am excited to see what opportunities are in store after I graduate Mount this spring.

Service Engagement:

To meet my 75 hour requirement for Year of Service, I am volunteering at the Columbus Metropolitan Library Homework Help Center – Northern Lights. I am volunteering here 3 hours a week for the entirety of this school year and I chose this location because it focuses on issues of education in the Columbus community. My goal is to be a mentor for these kids and help them succeed academically.
