About Me

Hi! My name is Angela Falconi, and I am a first-year pre-med student at The Ohio State University pursuing a major in public health. Additionally, I am planning on specializing in environmental public health and minoring in Spanish and Korean. I am also a student of the Health Sciences Scholars Program.

I am from Brunswick, Ohio, and I graduated from Padua Franciscan High School in Parma, Ohio as a MedTrack student and the valedictorian of the class of 2020. MedTrack is a Padua academic, extracurricular, and career-focused program for students interested in healthcare. As a MedTrack student, I was able to shadow physicians for sixty hours as a high school student, I worked as the MedTrack Student coordinator, assisting the program director, and I won “Best Research Paper,” for my paper on dermatology. I then applied the skills that I had learned in MedTrack to a paid-internship position at the Cleveland Clinic in the Applied Medicine Summer Science Internship where I worked in the cardiovascular surgery and ambulatory nursing departments for two consecutive summers.

As a pre-med student at The Ohio State University, majoring in public health, I would like to learn more about medicine through a wider lens as I earn my bachelor’s degree. Beyond that, I hope to earn a Masters in Public Health (MPH) as well as go on to medical school in order to become a physician. In the future, I would like to not just help and assist patients, but make an impact by improving the healthcare system in area of health policy.

As a student pursuing a minor in Spanish, I hope to build on my previous knowledge in the Spanish language in order to become fluent. I am also fascinated by Korean culture, and I would like to formally learn the language as a continuation of the self-study I have done of Korean.

In terms of campus involvement, I am involved in the Pilipino Student Association (PSA), an organization which celebrates and fosters Filipinx and Filipinx-American heritage, and has helped me in connecting with my culture as a Filipina woman.

Outside of school, I am very passionate about music, and I have played the piano for almost 16 years, the guitar for 8 years, and I have been singing for as long as I can remember. I serve my home parish, St. Ambrose, as a cantor, where I volunteer my time to help lead the congregation in song.

My E-portfolio acts as a display of my experiences, achievements, and wishes in terms of my academics, extracurriculars, professional involvements, as well as personal interests as well.  Through all of my experiences, I hope to demonstrate not only my academic and professional side, but who I am, personally, as well.
