4-H Cloverbud Easter Egg Hunt is this Saturday, March 16th!

The Fairfield County Junior Leaders invite Cloverbuds and their family members under the age of 8 to attend the JAS’s Easter EggExtravaganza. This will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 1:00pm-3:00pm (with the Egg Hunt happening at 2:00pm). This FREE event will be held at the Ag Center/Extension Office (831 College Ave, Lancaster). Join us for crafts, animals, games, and an egg hunt. This event is being held in memory of Cloverbud Advisor, Jane Sharp.

 

Dine to Donate: April 2 – MOD Pizza

The Fairfield County 4-H Junior Leaders will be hosting a monthly dine to donate fundraiser to raise funds. April’s dine to donate will be a MOD Pizza fundraiser on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 11:00am – 9:00 p.m. at 1854 North Memorial Drive, Lancaster. 50% of your bill will be donated to the 4-H program. Bring in this flyer to the store to get credit for your purchase.

Dine to Donate: Chipotle – March 5, 2024

The Fairfield County 4-H Junior Leaders will be hosting a monthly dine to donate fundraiser to raise funds for their club. March’s dine to donate will be a Chipotle fundraiser on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 1608 North Memorial Drive, Lancaster. 33% of the event sales will be donated to the 4-H program.
Supporters should show the official fundraiser flyer (shown above) in hard copy or on their phone. Supporters may also tell the cashier at checkout that they are there to support the 4-H fundraiser before they pay! If you don’t tell the cashier you are there for the fundraiser, the Junior Leaders will not get credit for the sale.
Remember do not hand out fundraiser flyers or solicit to customers in line at the restaurant, or in the parking lot at any time. All promotion/flyer distribution must be done ahead of time.
Gift cards purchased during fundraisers do not count towards total donated sales, but purchases made with an existing gift card will count.
Order online and pickup Chipotle for your fundraiser by using the Promo Code A7GBEBE on the Chipotle app or website. Please note that fundraiser online ordering is only valid through pickup during your fundraiser’s scheduled date, time, and assigned restaurant. Junior Leader Kick Off Meeting – Feb 5th

Fairfield County youth ages 13-18 are welcome to join Junior Leaders –  

Join us Monday, February 5th at 6:30p.m. at the Ag Center (831 College Ave, Lancaster) as we kick off our year!

What is Junior Leadership Club?

A group of older 4-H youth from across the county. This club is designed for older youth BY older youth. Some of the activities we do throughout the county are: social outings, community service, fundraising, leadership opportunities, and assisting at county events.

When do they meet?

The Junior Leaders typically meet monthly on Mondays at 6:30 PM and ending at 8:00 PM.

Where are the meetings at?

Unless otherwise stated, we meet at the OSU Extension Office in Lancaster (831 College Ave.) also known as the Ag Center.

Who can join?

Anyone who is 13-18 years old and a current 4-H member of Fairfield County.

When can you join?

Any time during the year. All you have to do is show up to a meeting.

What do we do at the meetings?

Jr. Leaders discuss and plan what is going to happen each year in Fairfield County 4-H. Members of Junior Leaders work on different committees to come up with the plan of work each year. Our most recent projects include the Bottle Cap Bench Project, Easter Egg Hunt for Cloverbuds, & Cloverbud Day at the Fair!

4-H Teen Opportunities, Award Forms, and Recognition (youth ages 13-18 as of 1/1/2024)

Attention Teens! Do you want to be a camp counselor? Junior Fair Board Member? Junior Leader? Outstanding 4-Her? Scholarship or Trip Award winner? Do you find yourself asking “How do I get to do that?” We suspect that as you have gotten older you have started to look for new and exciting things where you can be involved. Read on… 4-H has special opportunities for teens only where YOU can play a part!

There are many exciting opportunities that await you as a teenager in the Fairfield County 4-H Program. Soon, 4-H members who will be ages 13-18 as of 1/1/2024 will receive a survey link emailed to them. This survey is an invitation for you to let us know what you are interested in learning more about. Read all about these opportunities, mark which ones you are interested in and we will follow up with making sure you have the correct forms, applications, and information to proceed to the next steps!

The opportunities in awards, trips, scholarships and more available to teens in the 4-H program are incredible. Don’t miss out on learning more and getting involved! Most of these opportunities are open to 4-H members ages 14 and up as of January 1st. There are also a few opportunities for youth ages 13 as of January 1st. Some of these activities require completion of special forms while others just involve asking for more information. Regardless of what you are interested in, be sure to give us a call if you need more information or would like some help with the necessary forms.

We encourage you all to broaden your 4-H experience and try something new. We think you’ll find many new friends and much more fun ahead!

Additionally, we invite youth who will be ages 13-18 as of 1/1/2024 to attend the Achievement Form Workshop on Thursday, December 14th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Extension Office / Ag Center.

Pop Tab Contest – FINAL RESULTS

As a reminder the top 3 clubs will receive a ‘cash’ prize for winning. Aubry emailed advisors on 11/6/2023 on how they would like to receive their prize.

Thank you to those clubs who have been collecting metal pop tabs for the Fairfield County Junior Leaders Pop Tab Contest! We were able to collect 111.8 pounds of metal pop tabs that were donated to the statewide community service project organized by Barns & Buttons 4-H Club from Ashtabula County. All pop tabs are donated to Ronald McDonald house in Columbus to help pay the electric bill.

4-H’ers Helping Neighbors Food Drive – Contest Update

4-H’ers Helping Neighbors Results for 2023 Food Drive in September 

Congratulations to the following groups for being the top in the food drive sponsored by Farm Credit-Mid America. These clubs will receive a cash prize for winning!

  • $100 – Top Club with the most items by weight
    • Camelids Unlimited – 217 lbs
  • $100 – Top Club with the most items by count
    • 4-Legged Friends – 132 Items
  • $50 – Clubs with the most items by weight OR count
    • Amanda Work & Win (96 lbs, 108 items)
    • Fairfield County Master Gardener Volunteers (55 lbs, 76 items)

With September being National Hunger Awareness Month, Fairfield County 4-H Junior Leaders organized and encouraged local 4-H Clubs and the Fairfield County Master Gardeners to give back to community through a food drive. Ten 4-H Clubs donated 518 pounds of non-perishable food items and the Master Gardener donated 76 items too!! The Fairfield County Junior Leaders were able to split their 567 donated items between Maywood Mission, Columbus Blessing Boxes Project, and the Vineyard Church to help our neighbors in need. Special thanks to Farm Credit Mid-America for their generous support of this community giving project by donating cash prizes for those clubs donating the most total pounds of food.
