Gabby Gugliemotto and Caroline Mason win State 4-H Achievement Awards and trips to National 4-H Congress!

The 2019 Ohio 4-H Achievement Awards were presented recently at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus. 4-H Achievement Awards are the top winner in a particular project area for the state of Ohio.

Twenty-nine 4-H Achievement Award winners will attend the National 4-H Congress with youth from all over the country in November in Atlanta, Georgia.

Winners from Fairfield County were: Gabby Gugliemotto for Horses and and Caroline Mason for Companion Animals.

In addition to the 29 Achievement Award recipients, two 4-H members received awards in each of the following areas: National Dairy Conference Sponsorships, Ohio Township Association Awards and Ohio State Fair Junior Fair Board memberships.

The evening was hosted by the Ohio 4-H Foundation. Ohio 4-H is the youth development program of Ohio State University Extension, with more than 156,000 young Ohioans participating in 4-H clubs, groups and special interest programs.

Please Remember to THANK YOUR SPONSORS!

We need to make sure our sponsors receive thanks and appreciation for supporting Fairfield County’s youth. This would include applying for the Bertha Wilson Scholarship, receiving awards at Summerfest, as well as receiving awards at the Fairfield County Junior Fair.

Please make sure if you are receiving awards (or have received awards already this year), to write a thank you note to your sponsor for these awards. Several people took lots of time making sure there was an address label for your particular sponsor on the back of rosettes/ribbons and attached to trophies.

Please note that we often lose sponsors because they do not receive a note of appreciation and thanks from our youth members receiving the awards that they have sponsored. If a member is not sure of their sponsor for an award received at Summerfest or the Fair, please contact the Extension Office and we will help you get the information you need.

We also strongly encourage youth to share information about their project, award(s) received, and perhaps a picture! Sponsors really enjoy reading this information.

Mandatory Club Advisor Update – March 15th, 2018

Attention Advisors:

We’re ready to get the 2018 4-H year started with our annual Mandatory Club Update.  We ask that each club send at least 1 advisor to attend one of two sessions on Thursday, March 15th.  This will be held at the Ag Center. We will have a session from 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. and then an evening session from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  The first part of the session will be the required Policy 1.50 Child Abuse and Neglect Training (an annual requirement for all advisors) and then we will start the club update.

At the end of the club update, you will be able to pick up your club packet (as long as you have turned in your 2017 Financial Summary).  This is a state requirement and we will hold your club packet until you have completed this summary. The form can be found here: http://go.osu.edu/financialsummary17

If you would like to complete your Policy 1.50 training through 4-H online, please feel free to do so.  Instructions on how to sign up for training are available on our website at http://go.osu.edu/4HOnlineAdvisorTraining near the bottom of the page.  Remember, you must sign-up and complete both the training AND the quiz to get credit for the year.
