Spring Cleaning? Donate show boots, belts, shirts, jeans, jackets to the Showmen’s Closet

The Fairfield County 4-H Advisory Committee is pleased to introduce The Showmen’s Closet. Donations are currently being accepted to stock our closet. Junior Fair families can spend a lot of money buying new show clothes and boots each year as their children get bigger! To help one another out, we are asking for donations of jeans, show shirts, boots, belts, white jackets that are in good to new condition (no holes please). Items should be clean (including those boots!).

Items will be donated to the 4-H Advisory Committee. They will be priced at a reasonable cost for families to purchase at the 4-H Advisory Committee Vendor Sale on Saturday, July 29th. All proceeds will benefit Fairfield County 4-H events planned and sponsored by the 4-H Advisory Committee.

Call for Live Auction/Silent Auction Items for the 2023 4-H Legacy Dinner benefiting Fairfield County 4-H

The Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board is busy preparing for the 12th Annual 4-H Endowment Dinner scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Home of Joy Farm in Lancaster.  We need your help!!  One of the highlights of the annual fundraising event is the Live and Silent Auction.  If your club would like to help by donating a gift basket or item for the auction, your donation would be most appreciated.  Popular items for themed baskets have included Pet Themed Basket, Kid Friendly Movie Baskets, Family Board Game Baskets. A very popular basket in the past was the Shooting Sports Basket which offered a basket of supplies plus passes to a shooting range.

Does your club focus on health-related projects?  How about a basket of healthy snacks!!  Quilt projects…who wouldn’t love a nice table runner quilted by a 4-H club member(s)!!  Does your club have a great health and safety committee…everybody always needs to update their home or vehicle safety kits or maybe a basket of sun screen protection products. Gardening projects….hanging baskets, succulent gardens…oh my, the possibilities are endless!!

Think outside the box. Be creative and focus on something that might be a good representation of your 4-H club’s scope of projects: maybe a basket of brushes, combs and grooming supplies, halters or feed pans and buckets. Maybe a set of clippers!! How about your 4-H clubs’  favorite snack …make or bake your favorite recipe, fill a basket with the ingredients and a sampling of the cookies, brownies or snack!!   Make it fun!! Better yet, send a representative of your club to the Endowment Dinner!!  Put your head to clearer thinking and hands to larger service and help us “Leave a Legacy” at the 2023 4-H Endowment Legacy Dinner. Your generous support is truly appreciated.

Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board to Host Annual Legacy Dinner June 8, 2023

LANCASTER, Ohio – The Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board is hosting the annual Legacy Dinner where 4-H supporters can enjoy a night out on June 8, as well as raise funds for the 4-H program. The event will be hosted at Home of Joy Farm in Lancaster, Ohio, starting with a social hour and silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by dinner catered by Cheers Chalet at 6 p.m. The program and live auction will commence at 7 p.m.

Event tickets are $75 per person, and table sponsorships that seat eight people are available for $750.

“Being a 4-H alumna of Fairfield County, I want to see the program continue to grow and support our youth,” said Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Board President Heather Wilson. “Our board members are dedicated to this mission, and it’s been great to see local businesses, community members and 4-H families generously support the endowment since 2006. We’re excited to bring the community together again to support this cause and enjoy a night of fun and socialization.”

Although planning for the endowment was started in 2000, it became fully endowed in 2006. The first Legacy Dinner was held in 2010 and has grown to more than 350 attendees supporting the youth in the Fairfield County 4-H program. The goal of the board is to generate funds sufficient to endow a 4-H position in Fairfield County and support the 4-H youth development program, allowing the 4-H tradition to continue for generations to come.

“Our county’s 4-H program serves over 3,000 youth each year through traditional club and school enrichment programming,” said Fairfield County 4-H Extension Educator Leslie Cooksey. “The endowment board works hard to ensure 4-H remains funded in the county for generations to come.”

Business owners and employees, 4-H families, community members and all 4-H supporters are invited to attend the event to support the future of the 4-H program in Fairfield County.

Sponsorships are available:

  • Platinum: $3,000 (receive 2 dinner tickets)
  • Gold: $1,000 (receive 2 dinner tickets)
  • Silver: $500 (receive 2 dinner tickets)
  • Bronze: $250

“4-H camps and trips are great learning experiences for youth and teens,” said Fairfield County 4-H Extension Educator Aubry Fowler. “The endowment board helps to fund many of those life-changing trips for 4-H members each year from interest money alone.”

About the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment
The endowment was created in 2006 to raise funds to support the future of the 4-H program in Fairfield County and endow a position of a 4-H Educator if other funding sources dwindle. The 4-H Endowment consists of two permanent funds made possible through individual donations, business contributions and fundraising events. The 4-H Fairfield County Foundation Fund allows the money to be housed in Fairfield County. (No OSU gift credit given) and the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment is operated by the Ohio State University (Fund #642082). Ohio 4-H is partnering with Tractor Supply Company (TSC) for the twice-annual Paper Clover fundraiser from April 26 to May 5. You can show your support by purchasing a paper clover at your local TSC store or adding a donation at checkout for all online orders made at tractorsupply.com.

In the past five years, TSC’s Paper Clover fundraiser has raised more than $400,000 to support Ohio 4-H youth programming. All proceeds from this
