Do you want to be a camp counselor? Junior Fair Board Member? Junior Leader? Outstanding 4-H’er? Scholarship or Award Trip winner?
Do you find yourself asking “How do I get to do that?”
We suspect that as you have gotten older you have started to look for new and exciting things where you can be involved. Read on… 4-H has special opportunities for teens only where YOU can play a part! Many exciting opportunities await you as a teenager in the Fairfield County 4-H Program. The opportunities in awards, trips, scholarships and more available to teens in the 4-H program are incredible. Do not miss out on learning more and getting involved!
Most of these opportunities are open to 4-H members ages 14 and up as of January 1st. Some of these activities require completion of special forms, such as applications or the Ohio 4-H Achievement Record, while others just involve asking for more information. Regardless of what you are interested in, be sure to call if you need more information or would like some help with the necessary forms. The deadline for the Ohio 4-H Achievement Form and all applications is Friday, January 8, 2021, so complete this interest survey soon.
Once you complete the survey, you will receive additional information by email regarding your areas of interest. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any question or need assistance with any applications or forms, feel free to call or email Leslie (740-277-4625) at email@example.com or Aubry (740-277-4626) at firstname.lastname@example.org. We encourage you all to broaden your 4-H experience and try something new. We think you will find many new friends and much more fun ahead!
**Completing the interest survey above is not required to complete any award forms or applications. This merely allows us to help get the information to you and follow-up with those who have expressed interest!**

Not sure about attending camp? Check out the videos below for a virtual tour of each facility and learn about why campers love to camp there!
Due to COVID-19, things are continually changing in our lives and the 4-H program is no exception to that. As 4-H Educators, we wanted to provide an update with details that we know as of right now:
Summer Camp – While we can’t host our traditional camp in person this year, Fairfield County Camp Counselors have worked hard to create an online option. Our main goal is to keep the traditions and activities we have at Tar Hollow and Alley Park but adapt them to be done at home with family and friends. All activities are meant to get 4-Hers up, outside and moving – No need to sit and stare at the computer longer than necessary! Virtual Camp began on June 15th for those families who registered. If you have questions or missed the deadline and would like to participate, please call our office 740-653-5419!
Our camp counselors have been hard at work designing a virtual camp for our 4-H members. This is new for all of us, so the camp counselors recorded some messages to share with our campers about what to expect this summer. Our main goal is to keep the traditions and activities we have at Tar Hollow and Alley Park, but adapt them to be done at home with family and friends. All activities are meant to get 4-Hers up, outside and moving – No need to sit and stare at the computer longer than necessary!
Get ready to be Quarantined in Space this summer… Fairfield County 4-H Camp is going VIRTUAL! Register today through June 8 at 4:00pm for Virtual 4-H Camp, taking place June 15-26, at www.go.osu.edu/FCCampApp.
This Virtual 4-H Camp is for any 4-H youth age 5 to age 18, as of January 1 of the current year. There is NO COST to attend! Camping activities will include nature, crafts, line dancing, songs, campfire, and more. Join us starting June 1st for Camp Spirit Week to get excited for summer camp and share your camp spirit.
Virtual camp will be an activity-based format this year that is accessible for all 4-H youth and their families. Campers have the option to participate in as many or as few activities as they wish. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt for completing their Space Log and will be eligible for other prizes based on involvement. Campers should be prepared to log onto Zoom on June 17 & 24 to check in with their camp group. A detailed schedule with times, program, and Zoom information will be sent to registered campers.
We hope you will join us for #Virtual4HCamp as we are #QuarantinedInSpace!
3 Classes for 2020. Top in each class gets a clock trophy and $250 cash. The Workforce Prep Day at the Ohio State Fair will be Wednesday, July 29th, 2020. Pre-registration is due July 14th.
You do not need to be enrolled in a particular project to participate in Workforce Prep Day – just let Leslie know that you are interested! All current 4-H members can participate! This experience is great for any one who has taken 4-H projects such as Teen Leadership on the Job, Am I Ready for Work, Get in the Act OR participated as a Camp Counselor, Junior Fair Board Member, OR have completed ANY 4-H Leadership Project.
During the State Fair event, those who enter will complete a “mock interview” for a job – such as a day camp counselor, summer internship, part-time job at a retail store or grocery store. Participants will have to prepare a digital display in advance and discuss their display with the judges.
This is truly a great experience for youth of all ages to start to learn what it takes to demonstrate their workforce skills that they are developing as participants in the 4-H program! Contact Leslie for more information: email@example.com. Click here for further details about Workforce Prep Day at the 2020 Ohio State Fair.
The application for camp counselors for the 2020 Ohio 4-H Shooting Education Camps is now live! Please help recruit great counselors to serve in these leadership roles. Youth must be 14 as of January 1st to counsel at Junior Shooting Sports Camp. Counselors who are at least 16 may be considered for Senior Shooting Sports camp, but we really need great alumni to serve as counselors for senior camp!
NO Shooting Sports experience required!
All youth interested in this opportunity will be required to complete training at the county level. For alumni, they will need to become approved screened volunteers. With your young alumni, this is a great opportunity to get and keep them engaged as volunteers.
For all applicants, Christy Clary (state coordinator) will reach out to the 4-H professionals in Fairfield County for a reference and to confirm training is complete.
Ohio 4-H Sea Camp is recruiting positive role models to serve as camp counselors and staff for this summer! Sea Camp is held from July 11-15, 2020 at Erie County 4-H Camp Kelleys Island. Mandatory on-site training for volunteers and counselors begins on July 10.
All camp counselors MUST be age 18 or older at the start of camp (July 11). Because of this age requirement, recent graduates of the 4-H program including past camp counselors would be excellent candidates!
