4th H (Health) Club Challenge

We pledge our “health to better living” but do we actually practice it? The 4th H Club Challenge encourages Ohio 4-H Clubs to learn, practice, and advocate for healthy choices and behaviors at 4-H club meetings. Practicing healthy habits and choices now has lifelong effects on the health of youth.

Each club that completes the challenge before the deadline will enter into the $100 voucher drawing for their region to use for their club (project books, educational tools, etc.)! Each region will have a winner. The first 25 clubs that complete the registration and pre-survey will get an extra entry. How does it work? Apply 3 healthy practices per meeting at 6 or more 4-H clubs/meetings from April – December 2023.

  1. Register and complete pre-survey.
  2. Record the dates and activities in the 4th H tracker link. (the tracker link will be provided after registering)
  3. Share a picture of your club doing a healthy practice on social media. Be sure to include the official hashtag #Ohio4thHClubChallenge.
  4. Submit all activities to the tracker link by December 31st, 2023.

More information can be found at https://go.osu.edu/4thHClubChallenge.

Goat, Barrow and Lamb MQP Applications are being Accepted

Application deadline for MQP contests is May 1

Entries for the 2023 Fairfield County Jr. Fair Goat, Barrow, and Lamb MQP programs are now being accepted. Again this year all MQP entries will be accepted on-line.

Please note that some of the important MQP dates have changed as follows:

  • Goats for the MQP contest must be owned by June 3, 2023 and will be tagged and weighed-in on that date at the Fairgrounds. After 85 days on feed the Goat MQP contest will conclude at the Fairgrounds on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
  • Lambs for the MQP contest must be owned by July 8, 2023 and will be tagged and weighed at the Fairgrounds on that date. After 64 days on feed the MQP lambs will be brought back to the Fairgrounds for the conclusion of the contest. Note this is 14 days less time on feed than last year.
  • Barrows for MQP must be owned by July 8, 2023 and will be tagged and weighed this year at the Fairgrounds on that date. After 78 days on feed the barrows will return to the Fairgrounds for the contest conclusion.

Applications for any of these contests must be received on-line by May 1, 2023. Find more details about MQP and links to each of the application portals here: https://go.osu.edu/mqp

Hello 4-H Families,

The following information is correct and has been updated in the member handbook on page 47:

Day Camp Daily, 9:00am (June 13-15) Daily, 4:00pm (June 13-15)
Cloverbud Camp Saturday, June 17, 9:00-9:30am Saturday, June 17, 4:00pm
Junior Camp Tuesday, June 20, 3:30-4:30pm Friday, June 23, 10:00am
Senior Camp Friday, June 30, 3:30-4:30pm Monday, July 3, 10:00am

We will fix this in the online handbook and any books printed going forward. Please let our office (740-653-5419) if you have any questions!
